All of uds know that the place puri in orissa is only famous for the Jgannath Temple but many of us actually dont know the hidden reason behind it .That is puri has a sati pitha which is known as Devi Vimala Temple .This temple is a hindu temple dedicated to goddess Vimala another form of Devi Parvti.According to the history this place is regarded as one of the holiest sati pith .It is believed that the feet or pada kanda of devi has fallen in there .

LOCATION 

This tempke is located in the south west corner of the inner enclouser of Pravu Jagannath Temple premoses and on the western corner of the Jagannath Tower next to the sacred pond Rohini Kund .The temple was built with fine sandstones as well as laterite.It was built in the Deula style with perticularly four component structure ;that are Vimana ,Jagomohana ,Natamandapa,Bhog mandapa.


RITUALS

It has been heard thta all the devotees of Pravhu Jagannath first have to worship Devi Vimala before worshipping lord Jagannath in the main temple complex.


 The food offered to lord Jgannath does not even get sanctified as Mahaprasadam until it is also offered to Devi Vimala.
